Creating designs for each installation of the project began, for me, with each location — each location has different needs. One of those locations is the Napa Valley sign just south of Calistoga. I stopped to take a closer look and photograph it one day in December, between rainstorms. I needed also to check out, measure, and count the fenceposts that surround it, since each fencepost will be topped by a heart — and there will be another heart on the fence in between each pair of posts. It was a beautiful day. And it’s a lot of fenceposts — at least 51, when you add the ones directly across the road!

Thank you — I'm glad you liked it! Putting hearts up along Hwy 29 and the Silverado Trail wound up being more of a project than I could manage at the time, along with the other Heart Art installation projects I was doing in Calistoga and St. Helena, but I still love the concept.

It is intended to spread love across the valley, and beyond, using the power of Art.
